– Jacoby Ellsbury is 7-for-19 lifetime vs. Wei-Yin Chen. Teammates Chris Young (1.101 OPS vs. LHP this year), Alex Rodriguez (.924) and Brett Gardner (.828) are also in play against the Baltimore southpaw.
– Michael Bourn is 10-for-19 against Matt Garza, though it should be noted all 10 hits are singles.
– Kyle Kendrick has been destroyed by lefties this year (.300/.378/.554), and Texas can send out some combination of Shin-Soo Choo, Rougned Odor, Prince Fielder, Mitch Moreland, Josh Hamilton, and Leonys Martin. It’s going to be a short night for Kendrick in Colorado.
– Things won’t be much better for Kendrick’s opponent today, with southpaw Matt Harrison set to be greeted by lefty-killers Troy Tulowitzki (1.026 OPS vs. LHP this year) and Wilin Rosario (.973 for his career). Ben Paulsen likely won’t be in the Rockies’ lineup, and Carlos Gonzalez (.409 OPS vs. LHP) shouldn’t be in your DFS lineups.
– The Pirates will be facing lefty Jason Vargas tonight, which means Francisco Cervelli (1.042 OPS vs. LHP This year), Starling Marte (.934), Jung-Ho Kang (.861), and Andrew McCutchen (.859) all get bumps in value. As usual, don’t expect Pedro Alvarez or Gregory Polanco to be in the lineup.
– Lefty Brett Anderson is on the mound for the Dodgers against the Braves, making Juan Uribe (.917 OPS vs. LHP this year), Chris Johnson (.805) are both nice sleepers. Avoid Nick Markakis, Jace Peterson, and Andrelton Simmons, all of whom have sub-.605 OPS’s vs. LHPs.
– Give Kike Hernandez (1.088 OPS vs. LHP this year), Scott Van Slyke (.971) and Yasiel Puig (.832) bumps in value against Alex Wood. Stay away from Jimmy Rollins (1-for-17 lifetime against Wood), Andre Ethier (.588 OPS), and Justin Turner (.411).
– If Josh Phegley (.939 OPS vs. LHP this year) is in the A’s lineup tonight against Mark Buehrle, he makes for a good, cheap option in DFS leagues. Brett Lawrie (.875) is also in play, as are Billy Butler (22-for-67, seven XBH vs. Buerle) and Ben Zobrist (11-for-30, HR vs. Buehrle). Don’t get excited about Josh Reddick (.464) or Stephen Vogt (.673).
– Randall Grichuk (.866 OPS vs. LHP this year), Matt Holliday (.872) and Jhonny Peralta (.802) have even more value tonight against southpaw Carlos Rodon.
– Watch out in the right field bleachers at Yankee Stadium tonight. Nathan Eovaldi has been ripped by lefties this year (.350/.405/.470), so Chris Davis, Matt Wieters, Travis Snider, and Chris Parmelee will all get their hacks in.
– Jeremy Hellickson has also been hit hard by lefties this year (.301/.372/.485), so give Christian Yelich, Justin Bour, and Derek Dietrich second looks.
– Lefties are really killing Shane Greene (.346/.401/.592), and Seattle can throw a lot of lefthanded batters at him. Robinson Cano, Kyle Seager, Logan Morrison, Seth Smith, and Brad Miller all have DFS appeal tonight.
– This might not be the best night to use Buster Posey. He’s 0-for-12 in his career against Odrisamer Despaigne.
