Pastry school creates 100-pound Blackhawks chocolate Stanley Cup (Photo)
The Chicago Blackhawks held their annual fan convention this weekend and yet again the Stanley Cup was in attendance. The NHL’s championship trophy had a twin that was also there being shown off to the thousands who attended — a very delicious looking twin.
Courtesy of Chicago’s French Pastry School, behold the chocolate Stanley Cup:
At 6-feet (including hockey stick), 100 lbs., this is the third time the school has produced a sweet version of the Cup. It’s made from pure Cacao Barry couverture and took about 150 hours to create before being shown off at Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz’s private party.
According to Justin Breen of DNA Info, the sculpture was actually finished a week before the Blackhawks beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6 to win their third Cup in six seasons.
Superstition be damned because worse comes to worst and had the Lightning won it’s still one giant edible cake.
So now we’ve seen a Stanley Cup made of bacon and chocolate over the last few months. At some point someone’s going to have to make one out of hot dogs so we can finally ask the question, “Is a Hot Dog Stanley Cup a Sandwich?”
