The Kansas City Royals are your new World Series favorite
Who’s ready for Ned Yost to reprise his role as playoff genius? According to the latest Bovada odds, we’re going to see Yost bunt his way to the World Series again. This time, however, the results will be different.
[On the week’s StewPod: The secrets of ‘Major League,’ our favorite baseball movie.]
The Kansas City Royals are now the favorite to win the World Series, according to the odds makers. The team came into July listed at 8/1, but have since dropped to 6/1. That probably shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. The Royals currently boast the best record in the American League, and haven’t been ravaged by injuries like the St. Louis Cardinals (who have the best record in baseball).
The Cardinals aren’t far behind, though. Both the Cardinals and the Washington Nationals are listed at 8/1 now. Both teams came into the month going off at 7/1.
The Los Angeles Angels are one of the teams that saw their odds jump the most. The team went from 25/1 to 14/1 over the course of a few weeks. Other teams that saw their odds increase include the Chicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres were among the teams that saw their World Series odds drop.
The Philadelphia Phillies, meanwhile, have remained steady. The team is currently listed at 1000/1 to win it all. It’s been a wacky season thus far in Philly, but at least their odds have remained consistent.
What does it all mean? Well, it confirms our suspicions that Major League Baseball now has a Missouri bias. It may have started with the All-Star voting, but now it’s extended to more expansive areas.

By the time we figure out how high the conspiracy goes, it will be too late. Before you know it, Ned Yost will have a World Series ring, and will be living in the White House in 2016. We are powerless to stop it!
