T.J. Oshie comes through with Capitals care package for sad, little fan (Photo)
Earlier this month, 5-year old T.J. Oshie fan Libby Lu was upset that her favorite hockey player was traded away from the St. Louis Blues to the Washington Capitals. Little Libby didn’t care that her hometown team needed a shakeup after another disappointing season, she just wanted to continue cheering for No. 74.
Libby’s meltdown over the news was filmed by her parents and put on YouTube where it went viral.
The Capitals took notice and helped arranged a surprise phone call between Libby and Oshie during SportsCenter on July 5. Given the opportunity to speak with her hero, she was very, very concerned with Oshie’s pool, and rightfully so; what 5-year old doesn’t care about the type of pool someone has?
But the surprises didn’t end there. On Wednesday, the Oshie sent Libby a care package, complete with a signed Capitals jersey and some other trinkets from her new favorite hockey team.
Just when things around the Blues were feeling good following Vladimir Tarasenko’s extension, they just lost their biggest fan to the Capitals. (Sorry, Jon Hamm.)
