Dak Prescott has scar on face from March concert incident
from an attack at a concert in March.
Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott has a scar on his face near his right eyePrescott said Tuesday that he hopes other athletes learn from what he went through.
“I get to wake up and look in the mirror to that every day and I’m not ashamed of it,” Prescott said via CBS Sports. “I hope other athletes across the country noticed, saw (the attack) and are learning from it as well. But we live in a different time of day. Everybody wants to be successful. Some are jealous of the ones who are successful and do what it takes to take them down or to be maybe be successful themselves.”
The QB and other teammates were attacked in an incident that was captured on video. It happened while they were at a concert on spring break in Florida and Prescott said “jealousy” helped lead to the incident and that he was told he was going to be shot.
He declined to press charges afterwards.
“I know exactly what led to it, but nothing that you’d say was worth that,” Prescott said. “Just say ‘jealousy’ is what fired it up. Me being prideful with what the guy was saying he was going to do to me led to that. I was told I was going to be shot.”
Prescott was a top Heisman contender for a while in 2014. His candidacy was derailed after losses to Alabama and Mississippi and his Bulldogs also lost to Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl.
Now he’s the top returning quarterback in the SEC even if there’s no consensus as to where the Bulldogs will be picked in the SEC West. Even MSU coach Dan Mullen said all seven teams could
But when you look at the West, I always feel I can look at every team as I’m scouting, as we’re preparing for the season, as I’m evaluating them, and I can make a legitimate argument for all seven teams in the West of how they can win our side of the league,” Mullen said Tuesday. “When you have that much competition, it certainly makes it challenging. You look, and even on a national stage, I read and hear and see all these different things. The best team in the Pac-12, the Big 12, the ACC, the Big Ten, their top team could compete with any team in the SEC, there’s no question about it. But when you’re looking at seven teams in the West that feel they have a legitimate chance to win that side of the league, the competition week in and week out, you have got to be on your A game every single week, because if you don’t show up and play your absolute best against every team on our side of the league, you’re not going to win.”
