Bills place OL coach Aaron Kromer on indefinite paid leave after assault arrest
The Buffalo Bills have placed offensive line coach Aaron Kromer on indefinite paid leave after he was arrested last weekend for allegedly striking a juvenile and threatening the boy’s family.
The Bills issued a statement following the decision from team president Russ Brandon:
“Over the last few days our organization has continued to gather information in regards to the alleged incident involving Offensive Line Coach Aaron Kromer.
“We have been in regular discussions with the league office and have decided to place Aaron on indefinite paid administrative leave in accordance with the league’s Personal Conduct Policy while we continue to work our way through the investigative process with the league.”
The league’s new emphasis on discipline related to violence took hold last season, but until now we’ve only seen NFL players affected by it — this is the first coach to be arrested for such crimes. It will be interesting to see how things go for Kromer as the Walton County (Fla.) Police investigation continues, and it’s likely that the NFL or the Bills won’t take further action until we have more clarity in the case.
But it’s possible, if charges are filed, that Kromer could be relieved of his duties and see his promising NFL career be in jeopardy.
