Anibal Sanchez re-enacts Torii Hunter meltdown in front of Torii Hunter
Minnesota Twins outfielder Torii Hunter has never been one to float under the radar. Even at age 39, he makes sure his presence is felt, heard, and definitely seen.
His exposure this season has also been aided by his surprisingly productive numbers across the board —he’s hitting .260 with 13 homers and 47 RBIs coming into Friday’s play — but even without the numbers Hunter has made his share of headlines.
For example, Hunter made perhaps his biggest headline and loudest statement back on June 10, when after disagreeing with home plate umpire Mark Ripperger’s called third strike he produced the on-field meltdown of the season so far.
Basically, Hunter went haywire, stripping his uniform off and throwing his wrist bands and protective padding toward the field of play.

The display earned Hunter a two-game suspension. Beyond that though, it’s also earning him some good-natured ribbing from a former teammate.
Prior to Friday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers, pitcher Anibal Sanchez openly mocked the meltdown in front of Hunter as he prepared to take batting practice.
Joe Davis of FOX Sports has the action footage.
Naturally, David Price was right in the middle of it as well adding his own interpretation.
Just for comparison’s sake, we should probably put Hunter’s meltdown right here.
Sanchez obviously studied the footage closely. He pretty much got everything right in order, and even tossed the cleats for added dramatic effect.
While we’d stop short of calling it performance art, the reenactment at least drew rave reviews from the crowd gathered around the cage. When you get that reaction from your peers, it’s the ultimate endorsement.
To his credit, Hunter seemed to take everything in stride as well. Then again, what else could he do? Have another meltdown?
