Sources: Spurs lure West for veteran minimum
David West has agreed to sign with the San Antonio Spurs, becoming the latest big-name player to join San Antonio this offseason.
West will join the Spurs for the veteran minimum of roughly $1.5 million, sources confirmed to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, after opting out of his deal with the Indiana Pacers that would have paid him $12 million next season.
NBA.com had earlier reported West was headed to San Antonio.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards all offered West more money, according to sources.
The Spurs’ addition of West follows that of power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who announced Saturday he was leaving the Portland Trail Blazers to join the Spurs.
