BYU signee Charles WestWest, a three-star running back out of Coppell, Texas, was playing basketball with several people when a man walked up to him and shot him in the upper left arm.
According to police, five or six shots were fired and West fled the scene. He got about a half mile before he knocked on a door and asked for help.

Police said seven people witnessed the incident and a video also was circulating. Police were still trying to determine whether the video was authentic. Police have identified a person of interest, but have not yet released a name.
For all who is concerned I’m fine. May the lord be with everyone.

West, who signed with BYU in February, was arrested shortly after his signing after he was accused of raping a woman at knifepoint. On Jan. 28 a woman claimed West hired her as an escort for a “foot fetish service.” She said he held a knife to her throat and sexually assaulted her in the garage. However, she refused a forensic examination, police said.
The case is still pending.
