Tigers purchase contract of INF Jefry Marte to fill void

(9:55 am ET) With first baseman Miguel Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list, the Tigers have purchased the contract of infielder Jefry Marte from Triple-A Toledo to help fill the void Cabrera will leave, the team announced via Twitter.
The 24-year-old Marte was hitting .271 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI in 288 at-bats in Triple-A this season.

(9:46 am ET) The Tigers placed first baseman Miguel Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left calf on Saturday, the team announced via Twitter.
Cabrera — on the disabled list for the first time in his career — left Friday’s game against the Blue Jays in the fourth inning while running the bases. He was 2 for 2 with a RBI prior to the injury.
Cabrera is hitting .350 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI in 277 at-bats this season.
Giants LF Ryan Lollis makes season debut against Nationals

(9:41 am ET) Giants left fielder Ryan Lollis will make his season debut on Saturday against the Nationals.
Lollis, who will bat in the seventh spot of the lineup, was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday. He has a career .291/.359/.398 slash line over seven seasons in the minors.
Nationals CF Denard Span out of lineup Saturday

(9:20 am ET) Nationals center fielder Denard Span is not in the lineup for Saturday’s matchup against the Giants.
Span, who is just taking a day off and is not injured, will be replaced by Michael Taylor in center field and in the leadoff spot.
Span has been hot with his bat lately, hitting .381 with eight hits over his last six games.
Preston Tucker gets two hits, two RBI in Astros’ win

Tucker hit his 13th double of the year and recorded his 19th RBI.

Wilmer Flores has three hits for Mets

Flores was 1 for 14 in his previous four games. He broke out of the mini slump with his first three-hit game of the season.
Flores tied the game with an RBI single in the fourth inning and set up the winning run with a ninth-inning single.
Dodgers’ Howie Kendrick sees seven-game hit streak snapped

Kendrick struck out once and saw his seven-game hitting streak come to an end. Kendrick hit .500 with 1.224 OPS over the streak.
Kendrick stole his third base of the year in the game.
Adrian Gonzalez hits home run in Dodgers’ loss

Dodgers’ Kenley Jansen suffers first loss of year

Jansen entered a tie game in the ninth and gave up a double, single and sacrifice fly in his first three batters.

Owings finished the game 3 for 5, with all three of his hits going for singles. For Owings, it’s his fourth game getting three hits. Since June 1, Owings has only posted three multi-hit games. Owings is now slashing .239/.262/.332.
