LaMarcus Aldridge reportedly picks Spurs over Suns – FOXSports.com

After days of meetings, sought-after free agent LaMarcus Aldridge reportedly has made his decision.
Aldridge agreed to a four-year $80 million maximum deal with the San Antonio Spurs, Yahoo Sports/FOX Sports NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday.
Aldridge had met with seven teams since the beginning of free agency. He informed the Portland Trail Blazers, whom he played for in his first nine seasons in the NBA, Friday night that he would not be coming back, according to the report.
The Phoenix Suns made a big play for Aldridge, but apparently the allure of returning to his home state of Texas and of playing for a team with a proven history of winning championships was too much to overcome.
Aldridge averaged a career-high 23.4 points per game last season and was named to his fourth consecutive All-Star team.
The Spurs already got commitments from small forward Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green on long-term deals, and franchise cornerstone Tim Duncan announced that he will be returning for a 19th season.
The Suns made a number of moves in an attempt to woo Aldridge, including signing veteran center Tyson Chandler and trading Marcus Morris, Danny Granger and Reggie Bullock in order to free up salary-cap space.
The moves have left the Suns room to acquire a lesser free agent — although their prime targets are no longer on the market.
