beIN SPORTS reported that the network’s coverage of the 2015 Copa America quarterfinals reached 3.8 million according to the most recent Nielsen Rating. Coverage of the Argentina v. Colombia on beIN SPORTS en Español was the highest rating sports broadcast in cable for that day (June 26).
This news comes after beIN SPORTS released their viewing numbers for the Copa America Group stage, which reached almost 14 million viewers. The network’s en Español channel has been receiving larger viewing audiences throughout the tournament and these most recent figures appear to stick with that trend.
beIN SPORTS can likely look forward to large viewing numbers for the final game with the host nation, Chile, facing off against Argentina. The third-place match, between Peru and Paraguay, should also draw large numbers considering the popularity of the quarterfinal games.
Although some viewers were quick to point out a lack of diversity for the Copa America coverage, the network has done a good job of bringing fair and balanced coverage to the tournament.
Programming note: In the United States, beIN SPORTS has the exclusive English-language and Spanish-language rights to the tournament. If your cable or satellite provider doesn’t offer beIN SPORTS, or you want to watch the games on your computer, mobile phone, tablet or Roku, sign up for a free trial to fuboTV to watch the games.
