Red Sox re-sign Jeff Bianchi, option down Robbie Ross

(1:00 pm ET) The Red Sox re-signed infielder Jeff Bianchi , a day after he became a free agent.
Bianchi has appeared in one game with the Sox, as a defensive replacement. He refused assigment to Triple-A on Saturday, freeing him up to sign with another team.
Instead, he reupped with Boston. To make room for him, the Red Sox optioned pitcher Robbie Ross to Triple-A Pawtucket. Ross had a 5.29 ERA in 15 relief appearances for Boston.
Yankees activate Chris Martin, option him to Triple-A

(12:59 pm ET) The Yankees activated pitcher Chris Martin from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday and optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Martin has been slowed by elbow tendinitis. He opened a rehab assignment with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday and will continue to pitch at that level. He has posted a 3.55 ERA and 13:3 K:BB ratio in 12 2/3 innings with the Yankees.
Orioles’ Matt Wieters to catch Bud Norris at Triple-A Tuesday

(12:45 pm ET) Orioles catcher Matt Wieters will be behind the plate when pitcher Bud Norris makes a rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, MASNSports.com reports.
Wieters was initially scheduled to catch Monday at Class A Frederick and Wednesday at Norfolk before plans were changed. The catcher remains on track to join the major-league team on Friday. He’s been sidelined since last May after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Athletics’ Marcus Semien bumped to eighth spot Sunday

(12:40 pm ET) Athletics shortstop Marcus Semien is batting eight in Sunday’s matchup with the Yankees.
Semien has become a mainstay atop the lineup, and Sunday’s game will be his first batting anything but second since May 11. While the shortstop has struggled a bit in the second half of May, he is 5 for 15 over his last four games. The A’s will go with second baseman Ben Zobrist in the No. 2 spot on Sunday after initially batting him third since his return from the disabled list.
The A’s are favorites (-128) at home on Sunday, per VegasInsider.com.
Report: Giants signing Kevin Frandsen

(12:35 pm ET) The Giants are signing veteran infielder Kevin Frandsen , according to a report by ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick.
Frandsen will sign a minor league contract with San Francisco, the organization that drafted him in 2004.
The Giants will be Frandsen’s fourth organization since March. He was granted free agency by Philadelphia at the end of spring training, and released by Washington and Arizona. He was hitting .309 at Triple-A Reno at the time of his release.
Indians designate Jerry Sands for assignment

(12:35 pm ET) The Indians designated outfielder Jerry Sands for assignment on Sunday.
The move opens a roster spot for Carlos Santana, who was activated from the paternity list in a corresponding move. Sands made just one appearance during his current stint with the Indians, going 1 for 1 with a walk and a two-run home run on Saturday.

Santana was placed on the paternity list on Thursday, hitting home runs in two of his last three games before being deactivated. He has hit .221/.374/.383 with six home runs and 27 RBI in 149 at-bats.
Brewers 1B Adam Lind (back) to miss at least two games

(12:33 pm ET) The Brewers will be without first baseman Adam Lind for games on Sunday and Monday due to an injured back, according to FOX Sports Wisconsin.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell confirmed that Lind is sitting Sunday against the Diamondbacks for the ailing back. However, it looks like he was going to sit Monday anyway due to the Cardinals starting left-handed pitcher Jaime Garcia.
Astros’ Samuel Deduno shut down, to see hip specialist

(12:29 pm ET) Astros pitcher Samuel Deduno has been shut down from his rehab assignment and will see a hip specialist on Monday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Deduno began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Friday, walking four batters in an inning of work, but he’s returning to Houston after suffering a setback. He owns a 6.86 ERA and 17:9 K:BB ratio in 21 innings.
Dodgers place Paco Rodriguez on DL, call up Matt West

(12:24 pm ET) The Dodgers placed pitcher Paco Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday, per the Orange County Register. Rodriguez was sent home from the road trip to have his elbow examined in Los Angeles.
To replace Rodriguez, the team called pitcher Matt West up from Double-A Tulsa.
West was 1-1, 0.87 in five games at Tulsa.
