We all know the Josh Hamilton story by now. After his offseason that included a relapse, the Angels wanted nothing to do with him and essentially paid the Rangers to take him. He’s now back “home.” This weekend saw the Rangers host the Red Sox in a four-game series. Signs throughout the weekend in Globe Life Park said things like “Welcome Home, Josh,” and other variations.
After hitting two home runs on Friday, that seemed like the peak of the home fans’ enthusiasm, especially since he had the day off on Sunday.
Enter Hamilton as a pinch hitter with the tying run on third and winning run at first with two outs in the bottom of the ninth:
That’s a feel good moment for anyone, aside from Red Sox and Angels fans. Look at the joy on the faces of Hamilton’s teammates, too. Real cool finish.
Hamilton is hitting .273/.385/.636 through 26 plate appearances, but he started 0-for-7.
