Mourinho wants Champions League improvement
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that he expects his Premier League rivals to react and come back better next year.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants to see his Premier League champions perform much better in the Champions League next season.
Mourinho led Chelsea to their third title under his stewardship this season, the first since his return in 2013, as well as the Capital One Cup.
But there was disappointment in Europe as they failed to get past the last-16, losing on away goals to Paris Saint-Germain.
After reaching the semifinals the season before, when they were knocked out 3-1 on aggregate by Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, Mourinho knows that the defeat to PSG can only be considered as an underachievement.
Speaking after his Chelsea side secured a 1-0 victory over Thailand All-Stars in Bangkok on Saturday, Mourinho told a news conference: “It’s always difficult to win the Champions League, which is why all the big guys don’t do it seven, eight times in their careers.

“This season we were better than last season and next season we hope to be better than this season. Hopefully we get our chance.”
“Enjoying football is winning. That’s what I want to do for the rest of my career. This season was a great example, it was a third Premier League for me but a first for many of our young players.
“To see their pride and to see the fans going back to victories is the reason I am in the game.”
Meanwhile, FC Tokyo striker Yoshinori Muto has revealed he rejected the chance to join Chelsea as he felt joining Bundesliga outfit Mainz suited him better.
“I wanted to keep my expectation realistic and play for a team that fits my level,” he said.
