Live blog: Following the best of Sunday's action
Sunday marks the last day of May, so we’re just about to have two of the six months of the 2015 Major League Baseball season in the books. That seems like something. And when you look at the standings, some of the more surprising things we’ll see are the Houston Astros with the best record in the AL, the Minnesota Twins starting the day 10 games over .500 and the AL East being a collection or either mediocre or bad teams.
How about those Twins, though? They started 1-6 and have gone 28-12 (.700) since then. So ever since they looked like the worst team in baseball, they’ve been playing like a 113-win team.
Sunday, the Twins play host to the Blue Jays. Ricky Nolasco (5-1, 5.12) takes on Drew Hutchison (4-1, 5.12) in Target Field. If the Twins get a win and the Cubs beat the Royals, Minnesota heads into June in first place. That has to be taken seriously.
