Daily Dime: Talking Madison Bumgarner and looking for cheap hitters
Here are 10 DFS recommendations for Sunday but be sure to double-check the weather and lineups before first pitch approaches.
Madison Bumgarner, SP, vs. Atl (Teheran) $10000 at FanDuel: He’s priced high but as usual, I’m recommending the best-looking SP option of the day. Bumgarner is a good pitcher wherever he throws, but he has a 2.53 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP at home, where batters hold a .210 BAA. The Braves also have a .587 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season, which is the second lowest in baseball, so it makes sense the Giants are the most favored team (-185) Sunday.
Jose Reyes, SS, at Min (Nolasco), $3300: He’s often drafted as a top fantasy player yet isn’t being treated as a top-five shortstop here, but he owns a .346/.382/.635 career line over 52 at bats against Ricky Nolasco.

Jose Altuve, 2B, vs. CWS (Danks), $3800: We’ll get to some more bargains soon, but Altuve against lefties (in which he’s batted .421/.493/.544) at this price is just a no brainer every time.
Andre Ethier, OF, at Stl (Martinez), $2600: He owns a .305/.411/.562 line against righties this season, including six homers over just 105 at bats. This price tag seems like a gift.
Hanley Ramirez, OF, at Tex (Rodriguez), $3400: He totaled one RBI over the entire month of May before homering twice over the past three games, which is hopefully a sign of him recovering from his shoulder injury. Despite the big slump in May, Ramirez still owns a 1.017 OPS against lefties this year, yet he’s not one of the 20 most expensive outfielders.
Ryan Raburn, OF, at Sea (Happ), $2400: Lather, rinse, repeat. Raburn performs well against lefties, hits in the middle of Cleveland’s lineup against them and continues to be extremely cheap in FD.
Matt Kemp, OF, vs. Pit (Locke), $2300: He has one home run on the year despite PETCO Park somehow becoming a much more favorable hitter’s park, but this is still someone dirt cheap hitting in the middle of his team’s lineup. Despite a .278 OBP, Kemp is on pace to finish with 83 runs, 83 RBI and 16 steals, so the former star seems like a good bargain here.
Yan Gomes, C, at Sea (Happ), $2600: He’s struggled since returning from injury, but this is someone who should be a top-five type fantasy catcher from here on out valued not even close to that. He hit .331 against southpaws last year.
Ryan Howard, 1B, vs. Col (Lyles) $3100: This seems weird recommending someone playing better than expected and in the midst of regression, having two hits over his last five games. But Howard has nine homers over 131 ABs against right-handed pitchers, and Jordan Lyles has a 1.90 WHIP against LHB this season.
Jedd Gyorko, 2B, vs. Pit (Locke), $2300: He’s nearly as cheap as it gets despite having a .345/.472/.586 line against lefties. Gyorko has also gone deep once during his three career ABs versus Jeff Locke.
