Revolution vs Galaxy Match Preview
After getting throttled on the road 4-0 to Orlando City the defending champion Galaxy have won 2 straight matches. In those matches they only scored 1 goal in each, but their defense has been stellar as of late with clean sheets in those 2 matches.
While the Galaxy are in 4th place in the West they are only 3 points out of first place.
The Revolution are still in 2nd place in the East, but they have fallen out of first, as they are winless in their last 4 matches with 3 draws and a loss. In their last 2 matches at home their offense has been stagnant, but at least their defense has been good in a couple of 1-1 draws.
This is a rematch of last season’s MLS Cup final where L.A. won, but this time around they are the betting underdog. Not only did the Galaxy beat the Revolution in the title match, but 5-1 in the lone regular season meeting.
The Galaxy’s offense has struggled on the season only scoring 13 goals in their 14 matches. The last time they played the Revolution on the road was 2 seasons ago when they were drubbed 5-0.
New England’s Charlie Davies scored the lone goal in the last match and all of his 5 goals on the season have come in the last 7 matches. He and Juan Agudelo have combined for 9 of the Revolution’s 18 goals on the season and the L.A. defense has to key on this duo.
New England is an attacking squad that has 77 corner kicks on the season and the Galaxy have to defend those well in this match, as well as on set pieces.
Alan Gordon leads the Galaxy with 4 goals while Robbie Keane and Gyasi Zardes have 2 apiece. The Galaxy’s offense has looked out of sync as of late and it is key they play well in the midfield and look for counter-attack chances.

Something tells me L.A. will be very pumped up for this match and their offense will break through and that will be the difference. L.A. has great value as the underdog in this non-conference match up and they will win this Sunday night.
