The 10-man rotation, starring the end of the Tom Thibodeau era
A look around the league and the Web that covers it. It’s also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren’t always listed in order of importance. That’s for you, dear reader, to figure out.
C: Blog a Bull, twice. Ricky O’Donnell on how nobody comes out clean from the messy and inevitable divorce between Tom Thibodeau and the Chicago Bulls, leaving everyone feeling crappy afterward, and Chris Terzic on the central failure at the heart of all the sturm und drang: “The attainable goal of winning a championship was not reached.”
PF: NBA.com. Steve Aschburner: “One NBA coach referred to Friday’s events in Chicago as ‘a crucifixion.’ Another spoke of ‘the knife Reinsdorf stabbed in Thibodeau’s back’ on the way out.” Yeesh.
SF: Sports Illustrated and Bulls.com. Rob Mahoney on “the tireless steam engine” that the Bulls must now replace, and Sam Smith with one hell of an anecdote involving a seemingly simple honor, a bucket of baseballs and a group of waiting Little Leaguers that show just how full-steam-ahead Thibs seems to always go.
SG: The Triangle. Zach Lowe talks with Mike Budenholzer and Kyle Korver about where the Atlanta Hawks go from here.
PG: Hoopinion. Post-mortems like this are the reason why we wish Bret LaGree still blogged about the Hawks on the reg, and why we’re happy whenever he does come back: “The Hawks weren’t far off this season, and the difference may simply have been the cumulative impact of injuries and wounds.”
6th: Complex. Gus Turner checks in with Larry Sanders, now 3 1/2 months removed from reaching a buyout agreement with the Milwaukee Bucks and walking away from the NBA to pursue happiness: “I can’t say who I am. I’m still figuring it out.”
7th: ESPN.com. Ramona Shelburne checks in on what life has been like for Shelly Sterling in the year since she outflanked her husband and facilitated the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers.
8th: ESPN.com. Thabo Sefolosha tells Kevin Arnovitz that the arrest that resulted in what he has described as a police-inflicted broken leg that ended his season — an incident under investigation by the National Basketball Players Association — has negatively affected his reputation: “Every aspect of my life was affected by something like this, and I think putting light on the aftermath of something like this, I think that’s also something that’s important.”
9th: Save Our Bucks, twice. A good point-by-point breakdown and analysis of the leaked proposal for a deal on the public-private partnership for funding the construction of a new arena for the Milwaukee Bucks, of the problems the deal could face in moving through state and local legislatures, and more.
10th: The Diss. I liked reading about Jacob Greenberg watching the Warriors clinch with his dad.
