Nats' Strasburg leaves game after one inning
Tigers DH Victor Martinez (knee) will meet with team next week

(7:59 pm ET) Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez, on the disabled list with a knee injury, is currently in rehabbing in Florida. Martinez is expected to return to Detroit to meet up with the team next week, but it’s unlikely he will be ready to be activated at that time, according to MLB.com.
Manager Brad Ausmus was not able to give an idea of when Martinez might be able to return from the DL.
“I think it’s probably too early to try to predict. We originally thought it was going to be 2-3 weeks.”
Kelvin Herrera gets win after blowing save for Royals

(7:46 pm ET) Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera suffered his first blown save since May 25 of last year in Friday’s win over the Cubs.
Herrera managed to earn the win, however, evening his record at 1-1 on the season.
Herrera entered in the seventh inning and allowed a solo home run, wiping out a one-run lead. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk in his inning of work, striking out one.
Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg exits Friday’s start after one inning

(7:42 pm ET) Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg left his start against the Reds in the bottom of the second inning. Strasburg, who gave up a run and two hits in an inning of work, was seen heading to the clubhouse with the trainer, though no official word has been given by the team.
Strasburg has been dealing with back and shoulder ailments over the last several weeks. Taylor Jordan replaced him in the bottom of the second.
Strasburg is tenatively scheduled to start Wednesday against the Blue Jays, though there is no indication as to whether or not he will miss that start.
A’s RP Eric O’Flaherty could be nearing a return from disabled list

(7:37 pm ET) Athletics left-handed reliever Eric O’Flaherty is scheduled to make another rehab outing on Saturday. And, if that outing goes well, it could be his last before being activated from the 15-day disabled list, according to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. The team has not revealed when they expect O’Flaherty to officially be activated.
O’Flaherty has been out since the end of April with a shoulder injury, and his return would be a big boost to an Oakland bullpen that collectively has the highest ERA in the American League.
Royals’ Edinson Volquez gives up three runs in no-decision

(7:33 pm ET) Royals starter Edinson Volquez gave up three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings but left with a no-decision in Friday’s win over the Cubs.
Volquez walked one, struck out a season-high nine and allowed a home run. His next start is Monday, against Cleveland.
A’s SP A.J. Griffin to make rehab start on Tuesday

(7:31 pm ET) Athletics starter A.J. Griffin is expected to make his first rehab start with Class-A Stockton on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.
Griffin, who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2013, is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and could be back with the A’s by the middle of June, though the team has not provided an official timetable for his return.
Cubs 2B Addison Russell hits fourth home run of the season

(7:24 pm ET) Cubs second baseman Addison Russell launched his fourth home run of the season in Friday’s loss to the Royals. Russell also doubled in the game and scored twice, and now has 11 hits in his last 37 at-bats, including two home runs.
Cubs RF Jorge Soler goes yard in loss on Friday

(7:23 pm ET) Cubs right fielder Jorge Soler made his only hit of Friday’s game count. Soler went deep with a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it was not enough as the Cubs fell to the Royals 8-4.
Soler’s home run was his fourth of the season and just his first since May 8. He had been hitless in his previous three games and now sports a .276 batting average on the season.
Cubs SP Jake Arrieta goes seven innings in loss on Friday

(7:22 pm ET) Cubs starter Jake Arrieta was not at his best in a start on Friday against the Royals. Arrieta did go seven innings, but allowed four runs on eight hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter, throwing 65 of his 93 pitches for strikes in the 8-4 loss.
Three of the runs Arrieta surrendered on Friday came on solo home runs from Alcides Escobar, Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez. It was the first time since September 2013 that the right-hander gave up at least three home runs in a game.
Arrieta (4-5) still holds an impressive 3.18 ERA, and will look to get back in the win column in his next start, scheduled for Wednesday in Miami.
Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira gets a breather on Friday

(7:09 pm ET) Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is getting the night off Friday as he is held out of the lineup against the A’s. He had started each of the last 14 games for the Yankees, going 11 for 45 with three home runs in that stretch.
Garrett Jones will get the rare start at first base and bat sixth on Friday. Teixeira will likely be back in the lineup on Saturday, as no injury has been reported.
