Blue Jays’ Liam Hendriks blows second save in two weeks

(10:59 pm ET) Blue Jays reliever Liam Hendriks allowed three runs in 2/3 of an inning and blew his second save in five outings on Tuesday.
Hendriks entered to start the eighth, trying to preserve a one-run lead. After striking out the first batter he faced, he allowed three straight hits and five hits to the next six batters.
Hendriks save his ERA grow to 4.29 after the rough outing.
Phillies SP Jerome Williams allows three runs in Tuesday’s loss

(10:56 pm ET) Phillies pitcher Jerome Williams surrendered three runs on five hits over six innings of work during Tuesday’s 5-4 loss to the Mets.
All three of the runs Williams allowed came in the second inning when he allowed three hits, which led to three runs. He also struck out four batters and walked four during the outing and his ERA now stands at 5.33.
By going six innings in Tuesday’s start, Williams (3-4) broke a five-game streak of failing to pitch past the fifth inning. His next expected start is scheduled for Tuesday against the Reds.
Blue Jays’ Aaron Loup gets second blown save in five outings

(10:55 pm ET) Blue Jays reliever Aaron Loup allowed an inherited runner to score, tying the game and blowing his second save in five outings.
Loup entered in the sixth inning, with the tying and go-ahead runs on base. He retired all three batters he faced on two grounders and a strikeout, but one of the ground balls scored a runner from third.
Blue Jays’ R.A. Dickey gives up five runs in no-decision

(10:52 pm ET) Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey gave up five runs in a no-decision against the White Sox on Tuesday.
It was the fourth straight start that Dickey been tagged for at least four runs. He’s given up 22 earned runs in the last 25 innings.
Dickey allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out five. His next start is Monday, at Washington.
Mets SP Jacob deGrom strikes out nine in Tuesday’s win

(10:50 pm ET) Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom allowed two runs on six hits over 7 1/3 innings of work during Tuesday’s 5-4 win over the Phillies.
deGrom struck out nine and did not walk a batter during the outing. He has now struck out 20 batters over his last two starts. Despite a solid effort, deGrom received a no-decision Tuesday.
deGrom has given up one or fewer runs in four of his last five starts. His next expected start is scheduled for Monday at San Diego.
Royals’ Paulo Orlando hits first career home run

(10:41 pm ET) Royals right fielder Paulo Orlando hit his first career home run in Tuesday’s loss to the Yankees.
Orlando’s solo shot in the sixth was the Royals’ only run of the game. Orlando went 1 for 3 and drove in his seventh run of the year.
Mark Teixeira drives in four in Yankees’ win

(10:39 pm ET) Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira drove in four runs in Tuesday’s win over Kansas City.
Teixeira hit a two-run home run in the first inning to put the Yankees on top to stay. His four RBi were the most since he had four on April 24.
Teixeira went 2 for 4, scoring twice. He homered for the 14th time this season and reached 35 RBI.
Cardinals’ Matt Adams leaves Tuesday’s game with quad injury

(10:36 pm ET) Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams was forced to leave Tuesday’s game when he suffered a strained right quadriceps while running the bases, the team announced.
Adams was 1 for 3 before leaving with the injury. He was replaced by Mark Reynolds.
Yankees’ Andrew Miller pitches scoreless ninth

(10:35 pm ET) Yankees closer Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless ninth inning in a non-save situation as New York beat Kansas City on Tuesday.
Miller entered with a four-run lead and allowed a hit, while striking out a batter.
It’s Miller’s fourth straight appearance without a save.
Royals’ Jason Vargas drops to 3-2 with loss

(10:33 pm ET) Royals starter Jason Vargas snapped a personal two-game winning streak with a loss Tuesday against the Yankees.
Vargas dropped to 3-2 after allowing two runs on four hits in four innings. He walked one, struck out six and allowed a home run.
His next start is Tuesday, against Cleveland.
