OU Sports: Sooners DB possibility picks Auburn – Tulsa World (blog)
NORMAN – Blake Countess, an All-Big Ten defensive back at Michigan who graduated and decided to play his final season elsewhere, announced Tuesday he was headed to Auburn.
That’s a bit of a blow to Oklahoma, since Countess had planned to visit Norman this weekend according to SoonersIllustrated.com.
Bob Stoops needs all of the help he can get in his besieged secondary (2014 pass defense ranking: 117). About the only defensive back he can count on is cornerback Zack Sanchez.
Countess, having started the past two years at Michigan, could have competed with Jordan Thomas for the second corner spot, or for the nickel position. He was first team All-Big Ten in 2013 after making six interceptions, three of which came against Notre Dame and Ohio State, and honorable mention all-conference last year.
As a graduate transfer, Countess is eligible at Auburn immediately. He reportedly considered Oklahoma State as well as OU and Arizona.
