Here’s Slam Dunk champ Zach LaVine alley-oop-dunking footballs
We briefly break this Tuesday morning from thoroughly covering the Eastern and Western Conference finals to recommend that you spend one minute watching Zach LaVine, spring-heeled Minnesota Timberwolves guard and reigning Slam Dunk Contest champion, alley-oop-dunking footballs:

You know how you can tell my brain’s still slowly spinning up to speed after the long weekend? For a second there, all I was thinking was, “Man, it’s got to be super hard to reliably catch a football one-handed in the air like that.” I mean: yes, that is true, but come on, Brain, let’s not just skip past the organic jet-propulsion system that gives young Mr. LaVine the hang time necessary to focus on the finer points of collecting and crushing the spheroid slam. Sometimes it’s OK to just savor dope things you already know; sometimes it’s OK to remember that Zach LaVine’s really good at dunking and can jump insanely high.
It is perhaps worth noting that, when not dunking footballs, LaVine seems to working on increasing his gravity-defying vertical while working out with the fine folks at the Peak Performance Project in Santa Barbara, Calif. this summer:
LaVine reached the 12-foot-1 mark, showcasing what he describes as “for now” a vertical leap of 44 inches. If he ratchets that vert up any higher, we’re going to start having to worry about him escaping the surly clutches of Earth’s atmosphere. Be careful out there, Zach. We wouldn’t want you to wind up getting Bullock’d out there.
