Manchester United at Hull City Match Preview
While Manchester United has an unlikely scenario to finish in the top 3 and get an automatic Champions League group stage berth for next season Hull City has a chance to stay in the Premier League.
Man U has to beat Hull and pull off a 7-goal swing to finish ahead of Arsenal and Hull City has to win and hope Newcastle United lose at home to West Ham to keep from being relegated.
Hull City looked like they may be safe from relegation after a couple of rather surprising wins over Liverpool at home and Crystal Palace on the road, but since then they have 0 points with 3 straight losses. Man U has only themselves to blame for not being able to catch Arsenal, as they had lost 3 straight before a win and then draw in their last match.
Since there is a very slim chance Man U can overcome a 7-goal deficit they will likely sit the nicked up Luke Shaw and Wayne Rooney, who leads the team in goals.
Earlier this season at home Manchester United easily beat Hull City 3-0.
Hull City must press the envelope on offense, as anything less than a win means they will be playing in the Championship League next season. However, their offense is not in top for with 1 goal in their 3 match losing streak and they have not found the back of the net in their last 2 matches.
Hull may have a little confidence facing Victor Valdes, who is making his first start in goal this season for Man U since David De Gea is injured.
Hull City leading scorer Nikica Jelavic surprised everyone by coming back after it looked as if he was out for the season. He is still not 100% and for Hull to win they have to count on Dame N’Doye and Abel Hernandez, who scored 3 goals in his first 5 matches and only one since, to carry the attack.
Man U controlled the ball in the midfield in the first match and if they can do that again they will have their chances to score, as even with Rooney out Robin van Persie may get the starting call up front.

I don’t think Hull can get it done in this match, but facing a shorthanded Man U squad at home they will give them a battle and I see this one ending in a 1-1 draw.
