Rays minor-league team takes a dig at A-Rod with ‘juice box night’
The Charlotte StoneCrabs, the Single-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, have a ballpark promotion aimed right at one of baseball’s biggest targets. They’re doing a “juice box night” Friday that’s a dig at Alex Rodriguez.
The first 500 fans through the gates get a free juice box like this:
Because you may not be able to read the label, it says:
The Sports Drink
100% Juiced
Side Affects include: tainted records, inflated ego, omission from the Hall of Fame, and more!
The Stew hopes they’ve got a lot of ice in Charlotte, because these juice boxes are apparently filled with hot takes. Fans can also get a free ticket by bringing a piece of A-Rod merchandise to the game and donating it to Salvation Army. The StoneCrabs, btw, are the same team that did a Jameis Winston “Claw & Order” night last season.
It’s also “free” beer night at the StoneCrabs game, in which a $15 ticket gets fans all-you-can-drink beer from the time the gates open until the end of the first inning.
So PEDs are horrible and earn you public ridicule, but binge-drinking is a good way to market baseball? Got it.
