Hawks may be sporting a new logo
The Hawks are in uncharted territory on the court, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in team history. And it looks like they’re about to break new sartorial ground as well.
SportsLogos.net is reporting that the Hawks have filed a trademark for a new logo, a basketball-with-wings-and-flames-or-maybe-they’re-hands. The Hawks had reintroduced their classic “Pac-Man” logo from years past prior to the 2014-15 season following a positive fan reception during the 2014 playoffs, and it appears the new logo will be continuing the team’s trend of reinvention.
Eagle-eyed observers may have caught the logo on the waistband of the Christmas Day uniforms that leaked online last week:
According to SportsLogos, the lime green of that waistband logo is no accident, as the Hawks may be incorporating lime green into their color scheme as well.
Reaction to the new logo on Twitter was, well, creative:
The Hawks continue their Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Sunday.
