Giants’ kicker on new PAT rules: ‘I’m excited’
(9:50 am ET) Josh Brown‘s job as the Giants’ kicker just got harder, but he’s not complaining, according to the official team site.
NFL owners approved the competition committee’s proposal to move the placement of the football on the extra point attempts form the two to the 15-yard line, making what used to be a 20-yard kick into a 33-yard attempt. Brown sees the change as an opportunity to showcase the skills of a kicker.
“I’m excited about it,” Brown, the Giants’ kicker, said today. “I believe it adds higher value to a person that come out in December in bad weather and still be consistent. Those qualities are still very exciting to me. It’s a play that you won’t turn the TV off for anymore. Every point matters in this game and now with the longer extra point, there’s added difficulty to it. It’s not a gimme. There are levels of excitement that are going to make the game more appealing when scores are very, very tight.”
Brown was perfect last season during extra point attempts, going 44 for 44.
