MSU Mankato’s Jeffrey Raymond appears on ‘The Price is Right’
Minnesota State Mankato defensive lineman Jeffrey Raymond has an awesome spring break story to tell for the rest of his life.
Raymond and friends went to a taping of “The Price is Right,” where he was selected to be a contestant. The show aired Tuesday and Raymond initially didn’t succeed.
He came on stage to play “The Range Game,” where he had to guess the retail price of theater seats, a 70-inch TV and a popcorn machine. Because it’s The Price is Right, you are morally obligated to make a guess yourself before watching Raymond play the game.
While he went over in his first game, he redeemed himself later. He won while spinning the wheel to get to the “Showcase Showdown.”
In the Showcase, trips to New York, Paris, a new kitchen set and a cooking class were on the line.
“Gotta go 22 strong. 22,000,” says Raymond.
A bid…
“22,000,” responds Drew Carey.
…in reference to Isaac Kolstad a fellow football player injured in a fight last May.
Carey says, “Jeffrey bid 22,000.”
That bid…
“Actual retail price…” Carey continues.
Kolstad wore the No. 22 at MSU Mankato, a Divison II school. He was injured in a fight with former Minnesota quarterback Philip Nelson in May of 2014. Nelson reached a plea deal surrounding his assault charges in the case. Kolstad suffered severe brain injuries in the incident.
The $22,000 bid paid off. Raymond won the Showcase.
Raymond, a senior in 2014, said he’ll probably take his brother on one of the trips.
“I’m probably going to take my brother on one of the two trips and I don’t know, we’ll see…haven’t gotten that far,” he said via KEYC.
