Calipari staying put, 'no interest' in Pelicans job
John Calipari will continue to serve as Kentucky head coach, tweeting Tuesday that he isn’t interested in jumping to the NBA.
Even though Anthony and Tyreke are in NOLA, I have no interest in the Pelicans or any other job. I have a great job and I’m happy at UK.

Calipari took to Twitter to state his desire to stay put after NOLA.com reported earlier Tuesday that Calipari was interested in the New Orleans Pelicans‘ vacant head-coaching job.
The Pelicans’ roster features Anthony Davis and Tyreke Evans, both of whom played for Calipari in college, Davis at Kentucky and Evans at Memphis.
NOLA.com reported that the Pelicans were unlikely to meet Calipari’s salary demands, with New Orleans looking to pay in the neighborhood of $4 million to $5 million per year.
Calipari recently agreed to an extension that keeps him under contract at Kentucky through the 2021-22 season. He makes roughly $8 million per year with the Wildcats.
ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reported Tuesday that the Pelicans’ list of coaching candidates includes Golden State Warriors assistant Alvin Gentry and Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, who is viewed as likely to part ways with the Bulls during the offseason.
