Padres grounds crew member goes dancing in the rain
Rain delays at Padres games in San Diego are few and far between, but the way the grounds crew handled the 1 hour, 56 minute delay Thursday night makes you wish they happened a little more often.
One member of the crew covering the infield with a tarp began dancing to entertain fans waiting out the delay. He eventually used the tarp as a Slip N Slide to the delight o f many.
It was just the fifth rain delay in 12-year-old Petco Park. The Padres also once experienced a delay because of bees. That could have folks doing a decidedly different kind of dancing. Rain is expected again Friday in San Diego for the second game of the four-game set. Perhaps we’ll see a second act.
