Following up on its successful Premier League Breakaway that was televised on New Year’s Day, NBCSN has decided to bring back the NFL RedZone-like experience this Saturday for the three relegation matches involving Sunderland-Leicester, Spurs-Hull and QPR-Newcastle.
NBCSN will begin its broadcast at 10am ET with the Sunderland against Leicester City match, but the broadcaster will switch from that game to Spurs-Hull and QPR-Newcastle and back again whenever any key incident happens in the match. With all three games being played at the same time and each of them having huge ramifications on the battle to avoid relegation, it’s a wise decision by NBC to do a Relegation Breakway show instead of viewers trying to watch all 3 games on separate screens.
Rebecca Lowe will guide the program as it cuts between matches to follow the most important stories with minimal interruption.
In addition, all matches in the 10 a.m. ET window will be available in their entirety via live stream on NBC Sports Live Extra and on Premier League Extra Time, a bonus television package available to MVPDs at no extra cost for customers who receive NBCSN. Premier League Breakaway will also be available on NBC Sports Live Extra.
If Spurs beat Hull on Saturday while Newcastle defeat already-relegated QPR and Sunderland beat high-flying Leicester, it means that Hull City will be one step closer to relegation on Saturday. Then again, a win for Hull and a defeat for Newcastle and Sunderland will see the Tigers leapfrog the two North East teams.
