It’s May so Edwin Encarnacion is predictably heating up
No one is more excited to see those terrible Justin Timberlake “It’s going to be May” memes pop up on social media than Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion.
That’s because during the season’s second month Encarnacion goes from minnow to mammoth. He hit two home runs in Toronto’s 10-2 win over Baltimore on Tuesday and is slashing .333/.447/.667 through 11 game this month.
This isn’t something new. In fact, it’s the third straight season that Encarnacion has gotten off to a slow start before breaking out in May.

American League pitchers beware: Encarnacion is coming for you and odds are he’ll take you deep.
“I’m happy to be feeling better at the plate the last couple of weeks, the power is there and I know it’s going to come,” he said, adding later: “I know when I start hitting and getting hot, we’re going to keep winning a lot of games.”
That’s exactly what Blue Jays fans want to hear. If Toronto, currently 17-17, is going to challenge for a playoff spot in the AL, they’re going to need Encarnacion to perform at an All-Star caliber level. Or in his case, his May level.
