Bundesliga giants FC Bayern host Barcelona in the return leg of the Champions League semi final fixture that ended in a 3-0 win for the Catalans last week.
A brace from Lionel Messi and a late Neymar goal was enough to win the game for Luis Enrique’s men and ensured they have one foot in the final of the Champions League which is to be played in Berlin this month.
Bayern will need to beat Barca with a four goal margin if they are to overturn that loss and progress to the final while a 3-0 win for them will send the tie into extra time and possibly penalties.
On current form though, its hard to see Bayern getting a result on this occasion.
They have been abysmal in recent times and followed up that embarrassing performance at the Camp Nou with another below par display at the weekend where they lost at home to Augsburg.
Their visitors, on the other hand, fared much better by beating Real Sociedad 2-0 which puts the La Liga title firmly in their grasp as their lead at the top of the table was extended to four points with just two games remaining.
It’s probably going to be a closer game than we saw last week but what’s certain is that Bayern will need a huge miracle if they are to make an 11th European final appearance.
Team News
Bayern are missing out on a couple of key players including David Alaba, Holger Badstuber, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery all of whom are on the injury table. However, Robert Lewandowski is expected to continue upfront with his mask on.
Barcelona have no injuries and no suspensions so you can expect them to lineup in pretty much the same way they did for the first leg. Why change a good thing?
