Gasol (hamstring) not likely for Game 5 vs. Cavs
CHICAGO — Pau Gasol‘s left hamstring strain is expected to keep him out of Game 5 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said that while Gasol is feeling a little better, he wasn’t able to do anything at practice besides rehab work.
“[He’s feeling] a little better today,” Thibodeau said after Monday’s practice. “Day to day. I don’t know [about his availability].”
Gasol said he initially injured his hamstring in Game 2 and tried to play through the injury in Game 3, but was taken out of the game after scoring just six points in 22 minutes. An MRI on Saturday confirmed the strain and he sat out Game 4. Bulls power forward Taj Gibson started in Gasol’s absence on Sunday, scoring six points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Game 5 is Tuesday night in Cleveland.
