Corey Perry avoids injury on scary collision with Matt Stajan (Video)
Annnnnnd exhale, Anaheim Ducks fans.
Late in the second period of Game 5 between the Calgary Flames and the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday, Matt Stajan skated into Corey Perry and sent the Ducks’ leading scorer screaming to the ice in pain, his glove flying off.
Perry was quickly helped to the back, heavily favoring one leg. It didn’t look good. At all.
But Perry returned to the game moments later, skating a late shift as the home Ducks fans cheered and chanted his name.
Crisis averted, apparently, as the Ducks battled the Flames with a chance to advance to the Western Conference Final.
Now … did Stajan know Perry was there? Was this more intentional than accidental? Tough call. It’s probably an interference minor at the very least, although Mike Milbury expressed surprise that it wasn’t a 5-minutes major on NBCSN.
