Ducks charge back against Flames to take commanding series lead
In a battle of two excellent third period teams, the Ducks came out on top Friday in Game 4 against at the Calgary Flames.
Matt Beleskey scored 1:11 into the final frame to give Anaheim a lead it wouldn’t relinquish in a 4-2 win. With the victory, the Ducks took a commanding 3-1 series lead over Calgary with Game 5 at home in Anaheim on Sunday. If the Ducks emerge victorious in said contest, Anaheim will take on the Chicago Blackhawks in the Western Conference Final.
The Ducks haven’t made the Conference Final since 2007, the last year they won the Stanley Cup.
“It’s playoffs. You never know what’s going to happen,” Beleskey said via NHL.com. “We love going home. We love playing in front of our home fans, but I don’t think that whole streak thing matters at this point. It’s Game 5 of the playoffs. We need a big effort.”
Anaheim came back from a 2-1 deficit and this below absurd goal by Calgary forward Sean Monahan off a feed from Johnny Gaudreau. Anaheim speedster Andrew Cogliano tied the game at 2-2 at the 16:42 mark of the second.
Karri Ramo again started for the Flames and stopped 25 of 28 shots on goal. Ducks netminder Frederik Andersen stopped 25 of 27 Flames shots on goal.
