Washington WR John Ross to miss entire 2015 season
One of Washington’s best playmakers will miss the entire 2015 season.
The Huskies announced Thursday that wide receiver John Ross III won’t play in 2015 due to a leg injury.
According to the Seattle Times, Ross had surgery in January on his right knee, which had two meniscus tears. He later “aggravated that knee injury” during a spring practice last month and then “appeared to reinjure the knee while doing a light running drill on April 17.”
Ross, a junior, played in 13 games for the Huskies last season and had 17 catches for 371 yards and four touchdowns. He also had three kickoff returns for touchdown and started four games at cornerback.
His seven touchdowns (91, 20, 55, 65, 86, 100, and 96 yards) went for an average of 75 yards per play.
As a true freshman in 2013, Ross caught 16 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown and also scored on a 100-yard kickoff return against BYU in the Fight Hunger Bowl. Ross hasn’t used his redshirt season and would have two seasons of eligibility remaining when he returns in 2016.
In addition to Ross’ injury, the program announced that sophomore cornerback Jermaine Kelly has elected to transfer from the program. Kelly started the first two games of the season in 2014 before going down with a season-ending ankle injury.
