Don’t worry Tom Brady backers, Chris Christie is here to defend him
How New Jersey Governor Chris Christie became a popular item to talk about in NFL circles I’m not sure, but we’re here.
The Dallas Cowboys fan, perhaps the inspiration behind “New York Bozo” and enemy of selected New York Jets reporters, is back in the football news.
Maybe you thought the politician who might want to run for President of the United States some day would be up on a high horse about deflate-gate preaching about fair play and following the rules. Nah, Christie (who has his own “-gate” issues) just wants the world to know that when it comes to the accusations against New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, haters gonna hate.

“I think the media and others love for somebody who’s married to a beautiful model, who’s richer than you can imagine and who’s a future Hall-of-Famer, to take a couple shots at him. People like that every once in a while,” Christie said in an interview with IJ Review. “I think it’s way, way overblown.”
Many things can be said for and against Brady in this whole mess with the deflated footballs. If you want to defend him, your best bets are probably that there’s no true evidence in the report linking him to any wrongdoing, only speculation and conjecture. That’s what side I’m going with, and the lack of real evidence is why I think a game suspension for Brady is the most he can be given and even that might be a little much. Or you can say it didn’t matter because Brady won the Super Bowl two weeks later with an all-time performance without any deflated footballs, and that he’s basically being shamed endlessly over a what amounts to a football misdemeanor.
What I wouldn’t go with is that this whole controversy has come about about because the media and/or fans are jealous that Brady is married to supermodel Gisele Bundchen. But hey, I’ve never been a famous politician so what do I know?
