Texas OL Darius James to transfer
Darius James is leaving the Texas program.
James, a 6-foot-5, 304-pound offensive lineman, confirmed to the Austin American-Statesman that he’s been given his release and will transfer to another program.
James played in six games and started twice at right tackle for the Longhorns last season as a redshirt freshman, but missed the second half of the season due to a knee injury.
James, a native of Killeen, Texas, was a highly-regarded prospect coming out of the class of 2013. Rivals rated James as the top center in the class and the 65th-best player overall. He redshirted his first season on campus.
James missed the spring while continuing to rehab his injured knee, but was considered a potential starter for the Longhorns in 2015. Instead, he decided to continue his career elsewhere.
