Daily Dime: Throwing Jake Arrieta and searching for bargain hitters
Here’s a look at some DFS options for Saturday, but be sure to double-check the weather and lineups before first pitch approaches.
Jake Arrieta, SP, vs. Mil (Fiers), $9800 at FanDuel: He has a 2.03 ERA and 0.94 WHIP during a dominant start to the year and faces a Brewers team that’s scored the fourth-fewest runs and has the second-worst road OPS in major league baseball. The Cubs are the biggest favorite on the board Saturday, as opposing SP Mike Fiers has struggled badly, having allowed 36 baserunners over 18.2 innings this season.

Pablo Sandoval, 3B, vs. NYY (Eovaldi), $3200: His power numbers have disappointed early on in Boston, but the switch-hitter is batting .407 against RHP and .400 at home. Sandoval is also 10-for-14 with 10 RBI during his career against Nathan Eovaldi.
Chase Utley, 2B, at Mia (Haren), $2500: He’s off to an ugly start but realize that’s come with an insane .102 BABIP (his career hit rate is .302), and Utley is still hitting third in the lineup. Dan Haren has served up five homers over 10.2 innings against left-handed batters this season.
Colby Rasmus, OF vs. Sea (Walker), $2900: He has four homers and a steal over 51 at-bats versus righties this year. Meanwhile, Taijuan Walker has allowed a .411 OBP to LHB in 2015.
Brandon Phillips, 2B, at ATL (Stults), $2500: He has just two extra-base hits over 84 at-bats (with just a pair of walks as well), but Phillips is batting .353 against southpaws and is 4-for-6 during his brief history when facing Eric Stults.
Michael Cuddyer, OF, vs. Was (Gonzalez), $2700: He’s relatively cheap and if you dig deeper you’ll see Cuddyer is batting .316 against southpaws and owns a .935 OPS at home. Moreover, he has a career .429/.579/.714 line over 14 ABs versus Gio Gonzalez.
Wilson Ramos, C, at NYM (Niese), $2800: He possesses a 1.059 OPS against LHP this season yet a dozen catchers are priced higher on FD. Beware there’s a slight chance Ramos sits Saturday since he’s played three games in a row, although resting him Sunday makes more sense.
Kyle Blanks, OF, vs. Oak (Pomeranz), $2400: Sticking with trying to take advantage of splits, Blanks should once again be in the lineup Saturday after homering Friday. He’ll be batting in a hitter’s park and is dirt-cheap.
Jedd Gyorko, 2B, vs. Col (De La Rosa), $2200: Despite signing a $35 million contract one year ago, Gyorko has found himself on the light side of a platoon in San Diego. But he does sport a 1.000 OPS against southpaws this season and has owned Jorge De La Rosa throughout his career, going 11-for-16 with five walks.
Joc Pederson, OF, vs. Ari (Hellickson), $3600: Even after hitting a grand slam Friday (he’s homered in each of his last three starts), Pederson’s price remains the same as it was. Leading off and sporting a .302/.465/.679 line against righties, there’s no reason not to keep using the rookie right now.
