Mike Trout tried to get some inside information on the NFL Draft
Like many baseball fans, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout spends his offseason watching the NFL. Trout is a Philadelphia Eagles’ fan, and the Eagles went into Thursday night’s draft surrounded by a ton of rumors.

Trout attempted to get to the bottom of these rumors. Since he’s a high-connected celebrity, Trout went straight to the top in order to figure out who his favorite team was drafting.
That’s right, Mike Trout sent Adam Schefter a direct message on Twitter looking for some inside information on the draft. It’s unclear whether Schefter responded, but the Eagles did not wind up selecting the Oregon quarterback in the first round.

Direct messages are meant to be kept private, so bad form here on Schefter for releasing this information. You can’t blame Trout for trying to use his resources, even if it didn’t work out in the end.
Though his favorite team didn’t get the player he wanted, Trout still managed to have a good day. He reached base four times Thursday, and made a game-saving catch in the ninth inning.
Trout might be disappointed with his offseason plans, but he’s still got a ways to go before football starts.. While he would probably love to see the Eagles win the Superbowl, he would probably take a World Series victory first.
