Washington starter Stephen Strasburgh hasn’t hit his best form this season, but he has pitched better in his last two allowing 5 earned runs over 13 1/3 compared to 11 (8 earned) in 10 2/3 in his first two outings. His careers numbers are good against the Mets, but his start against them this season wasn’t allowing 6 runs (3 earned) in 5 1/3 innings and taking the loss at home in his season opener. deGrom was fantastic in his first 3 starts allowing a combined 2 runs over 19 1/3 innings before get roughed up for 6 runs in 5 innings at Yankee Stadium in his latest. He did look good earlier this season against Washington, but his historical numbers versus the Nationals lineup is not impressive although the data is small with 40 at bats. The trip to Atlanta appears to have awakened the sleeping bats of Washington getting to the Braves pitching for 30 runs in 3 games. We’ll bank on them getting more than a couple of runs off of deGrom and the Mets’ pitching staff this go around.
