Franklin and Sarkisian throw out first pitches Tuesday night
It’s time for our brand-new and sure to be irregular feature at Dr. Saturday titled “Coaches throwing the first pitches at baseball games.”
Our inaugural participants are Penn State coach James Franklin and USC coach Steve Sarkisian, who threw out the first pitches at MLB games Tuesday night. Franklin did so at the New York Yankees game against the Tampa Bay Rays while Sarkisian had the duties at the Los Angeles Dodgers game against the San Francisco Giants.
We’ll let Franklin go first, since his game was on the east coast. And spoiler alert, neither coach pulled a 50 Cent. Video via Penn State Football’s Facebook page.
We’ve got pictures of Sarkisian, but no video as of yet. He’s a former pitcher at USC, so his form looked good. He threw out the first pitch as part of USC Night at Dodgers Stadium.
And we’ve got someone vouching for his pitch too.
We’d love to compare the two, but it’s not fair to Sarkisian if we’re giving the win to Franklin because of a lack of video.
Earlier this year, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer threw out the first pitch at a Cincinnati Reds game and on Monday night, SMU coach Chad Morris threw out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers game.
