Alabama CB Cyrus Jones arrested on domestic violence charges
Alabama CB Cyrus Jones was arrested Wednesday morning on two charges of third degree domestic violence.
Jones was booked into Tuscaloosa County Jail early Wednesday morning on one count of domestic violence/harassment and one count of domestic violence/criminal mischief. Each count carries a $500 bond. As of 7:30 a.m. CT, Jones is still listed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail’s inmate database.
Both charges are considered Class A misdemeanors.
Jones was one of Alabama’s key contributors in the secondary in 2014. He played the entire season with a torn labrum in his hip and had three interceptions. He had the option of having surgery before the season began, however he would have missed the entire season. He’s set to be a senior in 2015.
His arrest is not the first for an Alabama player this offseason. DB Geno Smith was arrested for DUI and RB Tyren Jones was arrested for marijuana and subsequently dismissed from the team. DT Jonathan Taylor, who joined the team in January, was also arrested on domestic violence charges and dismissed.
