The Baltimore Orioles announced late Tuesday morning that their game against the Chicago White Sox had been postponed for a second straight day because of violence and civil unrest in the city. The clubs had been scheduled to play Monday and Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. ET.
Here’s the text of the Orioles announcement:
After consultation with Major League Baseball and state and local officials, tonight’s game between the Orioles and the White Sox at Oriole Park at Camden Yards has been postponed.
An announcement regarding the make-up date will be made as soon as possible. Fans are encouraged to keep their tickets and parking passes until more information is made available.
Consideration had been given to playing earlier in the day in order to avoid the 10 p.m. curfew in effect for Baltimore, and some stadium workers had been told that a 4 p.m. start was in the offing. But it didn’t come to fruition.
Other options reportedly were in play, including moving the series to Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., which is 38 miles away from Camden Yards, and available with the Nats out of town. No word yet on what the Orioles will do with the rest of the series, which was scheduled to conclude Wednesday night, or their homestand, which was to continue Friday night against the Tampa Bay Rays.
As for the D.C. option:
The Orioles postponed tonight’s game. As of 11 p.m. Monday, the Nats had not heard from MLB regarding playing O’s home games at Nats Park.

Fans at Camden Yards were locked inside the stadium for an inning Sunday night while officials ensured that they would be safe in exiting. Both clubs had arrived at the park Monday before officials postponed that day’s game.
