Live blog: Keeping up with all of Sunday's action
It’s a full Sunday docket, of course. As is the custom on this day of the week, it’s a packed day slate followed by the prime-time game on ESPN (Mets–Yankees, in this instance).
It’s an especially critical day for the White Sox, who will finish up a suspended game with the Royals that’s presently tied 2-2 in the eighth and then, a half-hour later, play a full tilt against those same first-place Royals. Potentially, the Pale Hose can pull within 3 1/2 games of the division lead … or fall to a rather grim 7 1/2 back. Or, of course, the margin coud remain the same. Dodgers–Padres highlights the late afternoon round of games.
As well, the Cardinals play their first game since learning that ace Adam Wainwright may be out for the season with an Achilles’/ankle injury.

Injuries, News & Rumors
– Cardinals: SP Adam Wainwright is reportedly likely to miss the rest of the season after injuring his Achilles’ Tendon while batting on Saturday. Our own Jon Heyman has confirmed that Wainwright will soon undergo an MRI and that the Cardinals indeed fear he’ll miss the rest of 2015. He was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday.
– Dodgers: The Dodgers have signed OF Mike Carp to a minor-league deal that will pay him $1 million if he makes his way to the 25-man roster, Heyman has learned … The team is considering placing OF Yasiel Puig on the DL because of a hamstring injury (Orange County Register).
