The Mavericks will have to put the game on the back of experienced superstar Dirk Nowitzki’s and hope that he can carry this depleted line up to a victory in Game 4. Unfortunately for the Mav’s Nowitzki’s defensive task of containing All-World James Harden seems insurmountable.
Nowitzki managed an impressive season high of 34 points on Friday but he was still outdone by Harden who hit a whopping 42 points, his best career playoff game. Dallas’ Monta Ellis also hit a playoff best with 34 points and managed to hit a runner to put them within one with less than 10 seconds to go in the final quarter. Corey Brewer managed just 1 of 2 free throws to tie it up and a buzzer shot by Ellis wasn’t even close as the Mavs fell to the Rockets 130-128. Even with the supersized effort of the Dallas team the duo of Harden and Howard were just too much. Harden is averaging 30 points per game in the series while Howard managed to grab 26 rebounds Friday. This poses a problem for the Mav’s who must account for Howards ability to rebound they ball in Game 4.
