Football recruit picks Florida in video, Syracuse at news conference – SportingNews.com
Plenty of recruits flip their commitments before signing a letter of intent. But flipping before even announcing a decision could be a first. Thanks to a pre-recorded interview and a change of heart, Robert Washington has done it.
Saturday, the four-star running back from Mount Holly, N.C., committed to Syracuse at a 3 p.m. news conference. About 15 minutes prior, Bleacher Report published a video featuring Washington that went live in advance of his announcement. He ran through his top six schools, sharing what he liked about each. Toward the end, the No. 12 running back in the country according to 24/7 Sports said he’d be committing to Florida.

Syracuse, among Washington’s top choices, had lost out. Per Rivals.com, the Orange have landed just two other four-star recruits since 2010 and are rarely involved in recruiting battles with the likes of Alabama, Florida and Michigan, let alone winning them.
Robert Washington commits to Florida. Tough miss for Syracuse.

But according to Syracuse.com, Washington filmed the interview on Thursday. On Friday, a day before he was set to announce, the class of 2016 back had a change of heart. This came more than two years after Washington verbally committed to Mississippi State, only to decommit after a coaching change.
Just heard from Robert Washington. He told Bleacher Report it was Florida on Thursday then changed his mind to SU yesterday. No coaches knew

Syracuse.com has a video of Washington’s news conference and more details. Stay tuned, though — Washington still plans to use all five of his official visits.
