Thunder's Kanter has arthroscopic knee surgery
OKLAHOMA CITY — Thunder center Enes Kanter underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Wednesday, the team announced. He can resume offseason basketball activities in four to six weeks.
Kanter was acquired on Feb. 19 from the Utah Jazz and appeared in 26 games for the Thunder, averaging 18.7 points on 56.6 percent shooting with 11.0 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game. He was a vital piece for the team in trying to make a playoff push with other injuries to stars Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka.
A restricted free agent this summer, Kanter said he wants to remain with the Thunder.
“I love it here,” he said at the team’s exit interviews. “Oklahoma City was obviously a good fit for me from day one. They opened their arms. I just like playing with all of these guys. They give 100 percent every time. I would definitely like to come back here.”
Kanter said last week he plans to play for the Turkish national team at EuroBasket 2015, which begins in early September.
