Pelicans PG Holiday (leg) uncertain for Game 3
METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday is listed as day-to-day for Thursday’s Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors. Holiday missed Monday’s Game 2 with soreness resulting from a stress reaction in his left leg.
Speaking after the Pelicans’ practice on Wednesday, coach Monty Williams said Holiday’s leg was too sore to play in Game 2.
The Pelicans are looking to bounce back on Thursday after falling behind 2-0 in the series. Holiday and guard Tyreke Evans (knee) were questionable for Game 2 with leg injuries, but Evans gave it a go, tallying 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in the 97-87 loss.
Holiday missed 42 games this regular season after suffering a stress fracture in his left leg. He played 21 minutes off the bench in Game 1 and scored just five points on 2-of-7 shooting from the floor.
Evans and Holiday aren’t the only players hampered by injuries. Pelicans star Anthony Davis has been dealing with a sore left pinkie after dislocating it in the regular-season finale against the San Antonio Spurs. Despite having his fingers taped, Davis registered 35 points in Game 1 along with 26 points and 10 rebounds in Game 2.
Holiday, 24, averaged 14.8 points and 6.9 assists while posting a career-high 18.8 player efficiency rating in 40 games during the regular season.
